Project Summary

Since the inception of World Inspiring Network in 2016, our top priority has been to provide a better future to disadvantaged children as well as youth in Ghana through education. With the support of our donors, volunteers, and partners, we proudly see our beneficiaries taking new steps towards fresh directions in life. We currently have 120 students enrolled in 4 rural communities in Ghana – who likely wouldn’t have gotten access to quality education, with little hope to improve their future.

The Challenge

It is indisputable that all children, irrespective of background, should have the right to an education. According to recent research conducted by UNICEF, more than 400,000 children in Ghana are not enrolled in pre-primary education. In recent years, the Ghanaian government has worked harder than ever to provide education for all, implementing numerous policies to make education more accessible. Attendance in school has increased dramatically as a result. Enormous challenges remain, however, with quality education still out of reach for thousands of children. Many cannot afford to attend school, with their families unable to support them financially. Others are encouraged to remain at home, working with their parents and contributing to the family’s income.

Challenges are often significantly greater for those in rural communities. Schools in these communities often lack crucial resources needed for learning, and children regularly leave school before completing their education. Poverty is endemic in many of these communities.

Solution

Studies consistently indicate a correlation between the prevalence of poverty and accessibility of education. In areas where quality education is more difficult to access, the rate of poverty is often greater. UNESCO estimates, in fact, that 171 million people around the world could escape extreme poverty if all children left school with basic reading skills. UNESCO also estimates that 617 million children and adolescents globally are not achieving minimum proficiency levels in reading. Statistics like these can be daunting – ensuring the provision of quality education for so many children may seem like something of an insurmountable task. By working to make quality education accessible to one child at a time, however, we at World Inspiring Network believe we can influence positive, sustained change among entire communities.

Education is the only passport for these rural children to fly out of poverty. World Inspiring Network creates a bright future for deprived children, providing quality educational resources such as school uniforms, backpacks, sandals, stationery, computers, and more. We don’t just donate but also go a long way to sensitize members of the communities we support so they understand the need for education. In 2021, we supported 120 students and look forward to supporting 200 in 2022.

Long-Term Impact

Children will get the opportunity to escape poverty whilst lifting their communities and families out of the vicious cycle of hardships. Beneficiaries would have received quality education with English and computer literacy and career development, which would enable them to realize their full potential in any field they choose.
